 Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe

Bread and Butter Pudding Ingredients:
  • 8 medium Slices White Bread
  • 50g / 2oz Butter
  • 10g Candied Orange Peel (Finely Chopped)
  • 50g / 2oz Currants
  • 275ml Milk
  • 60ml Double Cream
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
  • 50g / 2oz Caster Sugar
  • ½ small Grated Lemon Zest
  • 3 Beaten Eggs
  • Fresh Nutmeg

Bread and Butter Pudding
Time: 1 hour
Serves: 4

Bread and Butter Pudding Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°c
  • Butter a 2 pint baking dish thoroughly to ensure your pudding will emerge easily!
  • Butter the slices of bread and cut in half, leave the crust on.
  • Cover the bottom of the dish with a layer of the bread and sprinkle over the candied peel and half the currants.
  • Place another layer of the bread on top and finish with the rest of the currants.
  • To make the custard mix the milk and the cream.
  • Next add the vanilla, sugar, lemon zest and eggs.
  • Pour this over the bread making sure to soak the dish evenly.
  • Finally finish with some freshly grated nutmeg and bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes.
Bread and Butter Pudding Cooking Time:
  • Cooking time about 30 minutes.
  • leave to cool before serving.
Bread and Butter Pudding Serving Instructions:
  • Serve with Cream,
  • Great for winter time.
